Sahr Elected to Regional Leadership Post

Bob Sahr has been elected to the leadership of the Mid-American Regulatory Conference, a fifteen-state association of public utilities commissioners.

"Regional cooperation is critical to solving the challenges facing our telecommunications and energy sectors," said Sahr.  "I feel very honored that my fellow commissioners picked me for a leadership role in such an important organization."

Sahr, Vice Chairman for the South Dakota Public Utilities Commission, joins the leadership rotation for MARC.  He will serve as secretary in 2005-06 and will become president in 2008-09.

During Sahr's presidency, South Dakota will host the annual MARC meeting.  "We'll have a great opportunity in 2009 to showcase our state and focus on important consumer issues like cutting-edge telecommunications technologies and renewable energy," said Sahr.

MARC includes fifteen states stretching from Texas to Michigan to North Dakota, and the association counts 57 commissioners as members.
