PUC to hold wind energy meeting in Toronto

PIERRE, S.D. — The South Dakota Public Utilities Commission will hold an informational meeting in Toronto, S.D., Tuesday, July 31, 2007, to discuss wind energy development. The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. at the Deubrook Area Elementary School, 695 Palisades Ave. in Toronto.

PUC Commissioners Dusty Johnson, Gary Hanson and Steve Kolbeck will present information regarding the opportunities and obstacles of wind energy development. Representatives of wind energy development companies including Consolidated Power Producers Corp./Cimarron Light & Power Systems, enXco, FPL Energy (invited), Navitas Energy, Northern Wind LLC, PPM Energy and SummitWind LLC will make brief presentations about their companies and proposed projects in the area. All presenters will be available for a question and answer session as part of the meeting.

Landowners, public officials and others interested in wind energy development are encouraged to attend the forum.
