REQUEST FOR PROPOSED RULES

Any interested person or entity may file proposed rules concerning advertising requirements for eligible telecommunications carriers. Pursuant to 47 U.S.C. section 214(e)(1), an eligible telecommunications carrier must advertise the availability of services supported by the federal universal service support mechanisms and the charges for those services using media of general distribution. The proposed rules must be filed with the Commission on or before September 29, 1997. After considering the rules proposed by any interested person or entity, the Commission intends to open a rulemaking setting forth its proposed rules concerning advertising requirements for eligible telecommunications carriers.
