AGENDA OF THE AD HOC MEETING

Administration

1. APPOINTMENT OF COMMISSIONER TO SERVE AS A DIRECTOR OF THE ORGANIZATION OF MISO STATES. (Commission Counsel: John Smith).

On December 20, 2001, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) approved the Midwest Independent System Operator (MISO) as the first regional transmission organization (RTO) approved under FERC's Order 2000. In subsequent orders and communications relative to MISO and its regional transmission organization and standard market design initiatives, FERC has indicated a desire that State Commissions play an important role in the oversight of RTO's through state committees. The states in the MISO region are in the process of forming an organization to be known as the Organization of MISO States (OMS) to perform the state participation functions outlined by FERC, and otherwise work together on issues related to the management and operation of MISO and the electric transmission system in the Midwest. Each of the MISO states is appointing an initial director to participate in the organizational meeting of OMS and continue to serve in accordance with the by-laws of OMS.

TODAY, who shall the Commission appoint to serve as the director to represent South Dakota on the initial board of directors of the Organization of MISO States?
