Welcome

Is our country headed for an energy crisis or is there a renaissance in process? Will the cost of heating our homes become greater than our house payment? Is our economy destined for dramatic increases in energy prices? Is the U.S. doing enough to encourage a meaningful and comprehensive energy plan? Are renewable fuels such as wind, hydrogen and biomass viable alternatives or small and expensive contributors?

The South Dakota Public Utilities Commission hosted Crisis or Renaissance? The State of America's Energy, a comprehensive conference May 11-13, 2009, in Sioux Falls, S.D. Respected experts shared facts about the state of America's energy covering subjects such as environmental issues and climate changes to nuclear energy and the need for coal. More than 250 attendees heard presentations on wind energy, fossil fuels and global outlooks for energy development.
