Crisis or Renaissance, The State of America's Energy conference, May 2009,
More than 250 people attended this PUC-hosted event to gain an understanding of the energy issues of our country. Two dozen presenters shared current and comprehensive information on traditional and renewable energy resources.
South Dakota/North Dakota Pipeline Safety Seminar, April 2009, Rapid City
The South Dakota Public Utilities Commission hosted the annual South Dakota/North Dakota Pipeline Safety Seminar in April 2009. More than 70 members of the pipeline industry attended the seminar. Presentations were offered by experts in pipeline safety from the U.S. Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration as well as those associated with pipeline oversight in the two states.
Seminar attendees had an opportunity to visit displays and representatives from these vendors:
Carbon Cap and Trade: National Policy, Local Impact. A Forum hosted by the South Dakota Public Utilities Commission, March 2009, Sioux Falls
Presentations included an overview about proposed federal carbon cap legislation and the impact it will have on states. Speakers represented South Dakota's investor-owned electric utilities, electric cooperatives and municipal electric providers presented their views on how the proposed legislation will affect the customers they serve.
