AGENDA OF THE AD HOC MEETING

Telecommunications

1. TC99-107 IN THE MATTER OF THE CONSIDERATION OF THE ASSESSMENT OF FINES AND OTHER PENALTIES AGAINST WESTERN TELECOM.

IN THE MATTER OF THE CONSIDERATION OF THE ASSESSMENT OF FINES AND OTHER PENALTIES AGAINST TOUCHTONE COMMUNICATIONS. (Staff Attorneys: Camron Hoseck and Karen Cremer. Staff Analyst: Leni Healy.)

On January 25, 2000, the Commission received a Motion for Continuance from Staff in this matter. The reasons given in Staff's motion are that an unrealistic deadline was placed upon staff; staff is not prepared at this point to present a case; and, the public interest would be better served if more time was allowed. Staff is requesting an indefinite continuance in this matter. Also on January 25, 2000, the Commission received a Motion for Continuance and Joinder in Staff's Motion for Continuance from Western Telecom. This motion indicates that due to the large volume of consumer complaints and the fact that counsel was not retained until January 6, 2000, very little could be accomplished at a February 1, 2000, hearing.

TODAY, shall the Commission grant the Motions for Continuance?
